Most of us feel sad, anxious, low or stressed now and again, in response to particular events in our life. While for many people this is short lived, for others it can cause ongoing distress and give way to a sense of hopelessness about the future. If mental health issues astepstore affecting your quality of life, there is support available to help you overcome your difficulties. The Steps to Wellbeing Service is a free, confidential NHS service for anyone aged 18+ who is registered at a GP surgery in Dorset (including Bournemouth and Poole) and in Southampton.
They offer a range of different types of treatment for people experiencing problems with low mood/depression, anxiety or stress. Some of the problems we can help with include:
- depression and low mood
- anxiety (including social anxiety and generalised anxiety)
- obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)
- post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
- specific phobias
- panic disorder
They provide support either over the telephone, face-to-face, in groups or via the internet. The use of language or British Sign Language interpreters can be arranged if required.
They are a self-referral service, which means you can contact us directly to access support. We also accept referrals from GPs and other healthcare professionals.
