CCS (Community Counselling Service)

CCS is based in Canterbury and offers accessible and affordable counselling services for everyone in the area.  They assist people who are having personal problems to make beneficial changes to their lives, offering short, medium and long term counselling, usually meeting once a week for 50 minutes.

Their voluntary counsellors have been CRB checked and are either members of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) or the British Psychological Society (BPS).

They are committed and professionally qualified with decades of specialist experience ranging from abuse, bereavement, depression and low self esteem to mental health, panic attacks, post traumatic stress, relationships and stress. You will be listened to in a non-judgemental way and together you will examine the difficulties you are facing and explore your feelings, thoughts and behaviours in a safe and confidential environment.

East Kent Mind

East Kent Mind provides a variety of weekly virtual structured social support groups which facilitate recovery, social inclusion and personal achievement.

Daily telephone wellbeing checks are also given to customers to help reduce anxiety, create regular routine plans to help motivation skills and to access services.

Kent and Medway Safe Havens (Mental Health Matters)

If you are feeling distressed, overwhelmed, or that things are to
o much and you don’t know where to turn to get support, then  is here. They offer a welcoming, safe, comfortable, non-judgmental and non-clinical environment.

The emphasis is on reducing immediate distress, and supporting people to access services and opportunities available to them in the wider community. No referral is needed, the service is free for people aged 16+ and one-to-one emotional support from trained mental health professionals is given.

  • Managing your money, including debt and benefits
  • Housing support and guidance
  • Improving your relationships
  • Basic advice on healthy living and helping you set some goals to make positive lifestyle changes

  • Putting you in touch with support to help you quit smoking, lose weight reduce your drinking or drugs intake and look after your sexual health

  • Community projects
  • Arts, music, culture or sporting groups
