Environment and Sustainability Policy

Our Environment and Sustainability Policy outlines our commitment to maintain a sound environment within the broader scope of supporting UK-based individuals with BPD/EUPD to live well and improve their quality of life.

Borderline Support UK CIC acknowledges the connection between the climate and other environmental crises and the threat of current and future homelessness, disease, food and water shortages and poverty for millions of people around the world, as well as the major damage being caused to our natural eco-systems.

We recognise the importance no matter how small, of the impact of our activities on the environment and that there is a need to constantly consider ways in which we can conserve energy and reduce our environmental footprint.

We formally commit to being an environmentally responsible charity.

Approach

In our day-to-day activities we use the waste hierarchy as our framework:

  • Eliminate – Avoid producing waste in the first place. Most of our present activities are online/virtual, avoiding the carbon footprint created by making long journeys
Reduce – Minimise the amount of waste you do produce. We conserve energy by adopting an ‘only turn on when using’ approach to equipment
Re-Use – Use items to their maximum potential by reusing as many times as possible
Recycle – Recycle what you can only after you have re-used it.
Dispose – Proper dispolsal of reminaing waste items in a responsible manner
